A Southwest Airlines customer who bought a ticket for the first time through BionTech.com on Wednesday received a $100 rebate from the airline, making it the first customer to do so since a similar offer was announced last month.
The rebate, which was sent to the email address [email protected], applies to first-time customers of Southwest Airlines, as well as existing Southwest customers who have used the company’s app since last year.
The company announced a $1,000 rebate on Jan. 20.
BionTech has not revealed how many people have used its app to book flights, but the company said in December that it had more than 5 million users.
The app has more than 4.5 million active users.
Bionsky said the company was confident the rebate would help its customers.
“Biontech is proud to offer these generous incentives for customers who want to upgrade to Southwest’s new app,” he said.
“We believe our partnership with Southwest is an important way to further improve the customer experience for our customers.”
The airline has also expanded its app offerings, including an additional $2.50 for any reservation booked through the app.
Southwest has been trying to entice consumers with offers such as free upgrades and a discount on some flights.
The company also announced that it would offer a discount of up to 50 percent on all other Southwest purchases, including purchases from select retailers.
The airline said in a statement that it was proud of the partnership with BiontTech.
The airline will continue to be a leader in helping Southwest customers upgrade their flight tickets, and is committed to supporting the efforts of Southwest and other carriers in helping customers upgrade.
